Stationery Holder
Bronze Stationery Holder is an object of fluid, futuristic form instigated and perfected in the virtual world, then rendered permanent through an exacting, intensely physical casting process – exemplifying the compatibility of contemporary design technologies and changeless modes of production. It features three gradated fins to keep stationery and important papers in elegant order, and a furrow to accommodate your favourite pen.
Each piece is manufactured by a small-scale art foundry in Sydney, using the centuries-old technique of lost wax casting. Subsequently, it is hot-patinated and sealed in restoration wax to facilitate a rich, tarnish-resistant surface, before being punched with a maker's mark. The lengthy finishing process replicates that used by sculpture greats such as the English artist Henry Moore, renowned for his monumental post-war bronze works.
The nature of casting and finishing processes means slight variations will occur from one piece to another. Production marks may include slight pour ripples or surface pitting. The original finish will oxidise and darken over time to reveal a distinctive patina. If preferred, use a quality micro-crystalline wax polish.
Crafted, finished and polished in Sydney, Australia.
